metapackage
M: 2018-04-17
<reply>A metapackage is a package that normally exists for convenience. It has no content, it just depends on other packages so that you don't have to have a hundred things on an apt-get/aptitude command line. The version of a metapackage can be misleading -- look at what it depends on instead (see the kde metapackage for an example).

dpni
M: 2018-04-15
<reply>A really simple way to disable Predictable Network Interface naming and revert back to the old interface naming, is to "ln -s /dev/null /etc/systemd/network/99-default.link" as root (without the quotes). Creating this symbolic link prevents systemd from being able to change the interface names. You will need to unplug/replug your device or reboot/reload module and you'll have an old iface name.

<reply> "Hello" is not a question. It can't be expected people will answer a simple greeting. Just ask your question!
apt-spy
M: 2018-04-12
<reply>The apt-spy utility can automatically create a list of APT data sources to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/apt-spy.list, based on bandwidth tests. Not part of the Debian 8 "Jessie" release due to bug #779468. See also <netselect-apt> <sources.list>.

<reply>see zfs
rc.local
M: 2018-04-06
<reply>/etc/rc.local may be used to run simple commands at boot time. It exists by default in jessie or older; in stretch you need to create it. Don't forget the <shebang> and be sure to chmod 755 it. rc.local is considered a hack, a stopgap, or a temporary band-aid; see <systemd>
